President’s Day – A Thank You from Dave Mackinney
What a great day last Sunday was, with beautiful weather, a brilliant game of cricket, fantastic food and wonderful people. This shows what a great club we have.
There are so many people to thank for making the day what it was and I will do my best to do that here.
To my Darling Wife Nikki, for organising the day and that magnificent buffet lunch. It gets bigger and better every year, and yet again the focal point of the whole day.
To everyone who helped in the kitchen in the morning to everyone who provided food on the day, from Jack’s eggs to Jit’s samosas.
To my team, for agreeing to represent me and doing it with such distinction. They come from far and wide, Singapore, Surrey and the Dark Side, and I know they have a fantastic time.
To Jimmy and our sponsor Astound, for having Phil Bainbridge and Nick Compton in attendance. The kids loved seeing Nick, although not sure about his umpiring!
To my two umpires, Michael Hunt and Dave Bridges, without whom we would not have had a game
To the scorer, Keith Edwards, who did a great job in all that noise!
To the club team, made up almost entirely of colts and ex colts, you did the club proud although you did get too close for comfort in that run chase
To the two captains, Warren Carr and Rob Fullicks, in making it such a great and exciting game, keeping the crowd enthralled to the end.
To Derek and his two assistants Emily and Tara who kept the bar going throughout the day and night.
To Irene and Tony to making the pavilion look spotless both on Sunday morning and more impressively on Monday morning as well.
To Lisa Fullicks and her accomplices with the raffle, thanks to whom we raised over £250 towards vital club projects
To Ian Exworth, Colts Coaches and most importantly the Colts, who performed brilliantly prior to the main game. A lot of the earlier attendees were impressed not just with the numbers, but with the skill sets shown as well.
But most importantly, to all you members and guests there on the day, and we had over 200 of you over the course of the day, thank you for attending and making the day as special as it was
I am proud and humbled to be the President of this great club, and you should all be proud of HHCC as well.
