Sunday saw the HHCC Annual Colts Fun Day, held in gorgeous sunshine in Bushy Park. The weather was not a bother for the 40 or so KWIK cricketers who went through their cricket skills, as part of their sponsorship for the new pavilion. They all showed how much they had learnt during the season by performing excellently in batting, bowling, catching and throwing. Special mentions to Camiel for his batting, Alex Weinberg and Theo Rowsell for their catching, and Max Ratcliffe, Adam Mackinney and Alex Weinberg (again) for their bowling. After the sponsorship activities were completed, each KWIK cricketer received a medal in recognition of their hard work over the past couple of months. I hope that they have all enjoyed the Sunday morning sessions as much as the coaches have. I would also like to thank my fellow KWIK coaches for their support on Sundays; Nally Fernando, Tony Bull, Ian Exworth, John Marrinan, Rob Fullicks, James Harding, Jack Fullicks, Ryan McCartney, Owen Griffiths and Harry Coates. Your enthusiasm has been infectious, ensuring that everyone has enjoyed the sessions.
For those parents who have yet to hand in their sponsorship money, they can do any of the following.
1. Go to our Just Giving website (Click here) and make sure you mark the comments with your child’s name (remember if you are eligible for Gift Aid, then please mark it accordingly)
2. Bring the cash / cheque to the last session on Sunday 21st
3. Post a cheque, payable to HHCC Phoenix Fund to HHCC, 89 Kneller Gardens, Isleworth,
And don’t forget, we have one more session this Sunday, so hope to see you all there.
After the KWIK sessions were finished the families and friends all enjoyed the Fun Day activities. The coconut shy, cake sale, bouncy castle, the fine BBQ (thanks to Carrie and Lisa for all their hard work there) and the annual Stool Ball match. This was not as competitive as last year’s, probably due to the weather (most parents hiding in the shade under a tree) and the mental exhaustion of the tense nail biting Ashes test, but it was still a great day and one that raised over £400 for the Phoenix fund. Special mentions should go to the Fund Raising team for organising the event, Lisa Fullicks, Sarah Savage, Michelle McCartney, Nikki Mackinney, plus all those who helped out on the day, including Big Andrew Fisher, The Newton Savage family, plus Lucy Oliver for a fantastic effort with the raffle on the day. And obviously, a big thank you for all those who attended. I hope you all enjoyed the day.
Just because the KWIK sessions have come a close, you are all still welcome to pop down the club at any time we are open. You have all become members of the club, and that membership is for the whole year, not just the cricket season. We will be having events in the next couple of months, starting with the annual President’s Day match on Sunday 28th July. Full details will be sent out in our E- newsletters, like this one. You don’t have to wait for a formal event, why not pop down on a Saturday and see how our two leagues teams are getting on, or how our Sunday’s sides are faring in their matches.
The new pavilion has made our location just about perfect for watching cricket now. Well I can’t think of a better place, can you?
