HHCC 1st XI v. Chobham 1st XI Match Report – 9th May 2015

Easy Win for 1st XI

There was a comprehensive win for HHCC’s 1st XI at Chobham on Saturday. Having elected to bat, the home side had no answer to Hill’s opening attack. Tom Rose and Tom Hampton picking up three and four wickets respectively.Chobham were reduced to 18-5 at one stage. Only Alex Ormeand Ian Lackey put up any form of resistance, both scoring 14, the latter unbeaten. Wickets continued to fall after a double change to the attack. Stuart Barrs-James claiming two and james Newton-Savage employing his off-spin to great effect for the penultimate wicket.

A total of just 63 did not appear to be enough and so it proved. Hampton Hill reached the target for the loss of two wickets, Hampton (21), Barrs-James (15) and Newton-Savage (15 not out) scoring the requisite runs in less than 14 overs.

It was a good response to last week’s defeat and as availability continues to improve, Hampton Hill can look forward to the rest of the season with renewed optimism.
