The 1XI made the short trip to West End Esher and kept them down to 145 off their 45 overs JNS (2/21) and Olly Fallows (3/37) in the wickets. In reply Jamie Sones top scored with 72 and with skipper Tom hitting 40* it was a win in the 28th over. Up to 3rd in the league. Chaldon CMO and Long Ditton both on 60 points. Is that first game narrow loss to Chaldon going to affect the outcome for promotion?
The 2XI had a rain affected game. Playing against Whiteley Village who scored 179 off their 45 overs. James Harding picking up 3 wickets taking him to second place in the wicket takers for HHCC this year with 9 so far. Umakant top with 10. With the target adjusted for the loss of 10 overs to 157 the bulk of the runs came from the bats of Ian (44) and Rob 60*, hitting a six then a four of the first two balls of the last over. The 2XI are also 3rd.
The 3XI came back from a poor start with the bat to post 171 all out having been 20/3 at one point as Nally, Massimo and Andrew Woodhouse all snicked off to catches behind. Jake Wood top scoring with 52. Cameos by the lower middle order Pankaj (38) Gavin (15) and Tahir (13) saw us to our highest total so far this year. In reply Thames Ditton were soon in trouble losing their skipper first ball to a caught and bowled for Tahir (2/19). Ryan (2/17) continued his fine form with the ball, though Pankaj (3/19) was the pick of the bowlers. Andrew (1/28)struggled with the foot holds in the wet conditions but still had too much pace for the batsmen and DC (2/24) closed out the innings for 121. 4th in the league.
The game of the day must go to the 4XI led by the ever youthful Glenn Thomas. The Hill bowling first kept Kempton to 229/5 off their 40 overs Colt Adam Oliver (1/37) bowled well following his League debut the week before as did “sicknote” Jack Pannett (1/48) who tells us he had 5 dropped catches! In reply Gaurav pitched in with a mere 137* carrying his bat as we won by 7 wickets. Gaurav was well supported by Will Owens (31), James Burns (23) and Dhamavir Puri (19) who’s brother Samit(8*) join Gaurav to hit the winning runs.
The Sunday home side rounded off the weekend’s games with a 9 wicket win over The Antelopians. 4 wickets for Tom Hughes who credited Pankaj’s catching for them! Then another 50 for Jake Wood.
Brilliant performances by all our teams – congratulations!
